There seems to be a pill for every ailment…and a lot of us want
a pill for anything!
Back pain is a different animal though. Pills don’t always
relieve like we’d like or like we’d expect. Satterwhite Chiropractic recognizes there is
a place for effective drug therapy and empathizes with our patients. Back pain
hurts! Back pain interrupts life. Satterwhite Chiropractic sees a lot of different drugs
patients are taking for their pain. Satterwhite Chiropractic is always thrilled when its
Oxford chiropractic care relieves pain enough that back pain and
neck pain patients don’t feel the need to take pain relieving drugs as much!
But let’s look at what is available for pain control and relief and the
effectiveness as documented by researchers.
So, what does and doesn’t seem effective in treating
Oxford
back pain with drug therapy? Despite the potent
anti-inflammatory effects that would seem to be effective,
oral corticoids are
not effective in the treatment of lumbar canal stenosis.
(1) For low back pain
sufferers, regular or as-needed dosing with paracetamol (acetaminophen) does
not affect recovery time compared with placebo. Therefore, researchers question
the universal endorsement of paracetamol for these types of patients.
(2) And Motrin®, Aleve® and other non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) drugs are more potent for relieving chronic
back pain than Tramadol
® in one study.
(3) Satterwhite Chiropractic found this quite interesting
and confidently offers its chiropractic care plan to relieve back pain and neck
pain so our patients don’t feel the need to even have to take these
medications.
Accordingly when Satterwhite Chiropractic sets a treatment plan for
our Oxford low back pain and neck pain patients, one goal is to
attain 50% relief of pain within 30 days with the Cox Technic protocol system.
Often our patients find that relief in just a visit or two, but some of the
more difficult, painful conditions (like sciatic leg pain) may take a bit
longer for that relief. As patients who are on various pain relieving drugs –
prescription or not – follow the treatment plan and experience pain relief, they
may not feel the need to take them as often. The goal of Satterwhite Chiropractic’s
Oxford chiropractic care is pain relief for a better quality of
life.
So contact Satterwhite Chiropractic. Bring your list of medications
with you – NSAIDs and others – so we can note what you are taking. And bring
with you trust, trust that chiropractic care with the non-surgical and
evidence-based treatment of Cox Technic in the hands of your trained
Oxford chiropractic physician will successfully relieve your pain.
Now that’s better than any pill!
