It’s summer harvest time in the US. The
garden bounty is aplenty! Every family circle seems
to have at least one enthusiastic gardener with more
tomatoes and green beans and peppers than he or she knows
what to do with. Fortunately for us, generosity
abounds in gardeners. Satterwhite Chiropractic urges
Oxford chiropractic patients to gratefully accept
those green beans, peppers and tomatoes
and feast on them for a remarkable anti-oxidant and nutritional
boost to fight inflammation, heart disease, cancer, and more! Satterwhite Chiropractic embraces
all of these benefits!
ANTI-OXIDANT, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, ANTI-DISEASE
Satterwhite Chiropractic knows this is an incredible
list of benefits. It is difficult to detach
these actions from each other! They are all beneficial.
Tomatoes are so full of
nutrients, supplying vitamin C,
potassium and lycopene, an anti-oxidant that benefits cancer and
heart disease prevention and anti-inflammatory activity. (1,2) To boost
absorption of lycopene, eat tomatoes with some flavorful,
healthy fats like olives, avocados or similar oils. (3) Bell and
chili peppers are bursting with vitamins C, A, E, K1 as
well as potassium, folic acid and fiber. [We all need
a little more fiber in our diets! About fiber,
green beans are marvelous sources. Plus,
they have lots of proteins, carotenoids, and
anti-oxidants with only a small number of calories. Nutrients in green beans are described as being anticarcinogenic, helping
prevent and even stop the spread of some cancers throughout the
body. (4, 5, 6)] Further, peppers help
fight inflammation, too, with their anti-oxidants. Raw and roasted peppers have
anti-oxidant benefits. Roasting may increase or decrease those
benefits depending on the pepper type and stage
of their growth. (7,8,9) Either way, your Oxford
chiropractor encourages you to eat some peppers, tomatoes,
and green beans! Your body will reward you!
